Tips for the Perfect Office Holiday Party

    Last updated 4 months ago

Are you planning your office holiday party and stuck on the best way to entertain and engage your employees and their guests? Here are some tips on throwing a memorable, successful party this year!

    • Is there a charity that your business supports? Set up a raffle fundraiser with great prizes to educate and involve your employees in the cause, all while having a good time!
    • Great fun for smaller "everyone knows everyone" business, play Guess the Santa! Ask someone to wear the Santa suit and have them come in the room and deliver gifts. After they have made the rounds, ask if anyone figured out who Santa is. Offer funny prizes for the winners.
    • Incorporate live music into your event! People often find a live band more exciting than a DJ. And you could even gather up a few musically-inclined staff members to sing some carols!
    • Hashtags are everywhere and you can choose one for your party to encourage guests to engage and post pictures of the holiday party fun. You can use the hashtag to find and share the pictures later!
    • And, of course, a photo booth! From parties to weddings, photo booths are almost expected these days and guests are sure to take part in dressing up, grabbing props and jumping in!

There's still time to plan your holiday party at Turf Valley and receive 20% off your food & beverage! Call 410.465.1200 for more information today.

Tips for Making Your Golf Game More Consistent

    Last updated 4 months ago

If you want to get better at golf, you have to improve on your fundamentals. Use the following tips to play more consistently every time you step on the course:

    Level Your Shoulders
Whenever you swing with an iron, you should take the time to get your shoulders really level. Get a feel for the position by pushing down on the butt end of the club and mimic the position when you take your stance. If you are using a driver, though, your shoulders should face slightly toward the target.

    Tighten Your Backswing
Wasting too much energy in your backswing could actually hinder your game. Find a wrist hinge that feels comfortable and gently move to the top when you swing. If you can tighten your backswing, you should start to improve whenever you pick up an iron.

    Split Up Your Force
A lot of beginners generate too much force when they swing a driver. It is nearly impossible to play consistently when you hit the ball so hard, though. They make this mistake by overusing the lower body. When you swing, your right food should move forward on your downswing. The toe should follow the heel and your right knee she gradually shift toward the left knee. This reduces the excess force while giving you more control over your swing.

    Improve Your Balance
Balance is a key element of a solid golf game. Add some balance work into your normal exercise routine so you can start to build on this skill and improve your overall golf game. Try to do some bicep curls or chest flies while standing on one leg to start bettering your balance.

With the beautiful golf course at Turf Valley, it is more enjoyable than ever to practice and improve your game. Your Guide to Visiting Baltimore's National Aquarium

    Last updated 5 months ago

The National Aquarium of Baltimore allows guests to take an up-close and personal look at the amazing wildlife that occupies the world’s oceans, lakes, and wetlands in one of the largest aquarium settings in the nation. It may be difficult to experience the whole aquarium in a single visit, so you might follow this guide to be sure that you don’t miss out on the sights you want to see during your aquatic adventure.

    Best Times to Visit
Weekdays tend to draw fewer visitors, especially in the morning hours, so it may be best to visit during this time. If you can’t make it on a weekday, try visiting on weekends after 3 p.m. when the early rush has died down.

    Exploring Unique Exhibits
There are tons of exhibits at the National Aquarium—including the Atlantic Coral Reef, Jellies Invasion, Shark Alley, Blacktip Reef, and Animal Planet Australia. With the aquarium’s website, you can find the exhibits that strike your interests most and create a plan for your visit so that you don’t miss out on spotting the creatures you find most fascinating.

    Dining at the Aquarium
Some guests prefer to put a culinary spin on their visit with a sustainable dining experience, which includes a three-course meal prepared with sustainable seafood, a professional chef demonstration, cocktails, and an after-hours look at the aquarium.

    Booking Immersion Tours
If you aren’t into gourmet dining, you might book one of the other immersion tours at the aquarium such as the Dolphin Encounter, Gallery Tours, or Sharks! Behind the Scenes. These experiences offer an insider’s perspective that may capture the most imaginative and curious guests’ interests.

For luxury accommodations to enjoy during your aquarium visit, book a room at Turf Valley, which is nestled in Maryland’s rolling hills just a short drive from Baltimore. You can see the beautiful rooms and indulgent amenities we offer on our website or call us for reservations at (888) 833-8873.
